Breast Lift
The Basics
What is a breast lift?
A breast lift is a surgical procedure intended to lift sagging breasts, placing
them at a more attractive position and creating a more feminine profile.
Who is this for?
Many women lose the natural, perky, shape of their breasts with
aging and the natural effects of gravity. Others site pregnancy
or nursing as the culprit of lackluster breasts. Others simply
blame genetics. A breast lift can help lift any of their breasts
- and spirits!
About the breast lift procedure
A breast lift is performed on an outpatient basis, usually under general anesthesia
or local with sedation. The incision can be placed at the edge of the areola,
or under the breast in its natural crease. Excess skin is removed and the
remaining is lifted and reshaped to a more aesthetically pleasing position.
This procedure can certainly be performed alone, but is often paired with
a breast augmentation for enhanced results.
What is involved
in the breast lift recovery period?
Light dressings are worn out of the office, covering the incision lines, and
usually worn for about 2-3 weeks. Standard pain medication can be taken to
control any initial discomfort. Most patient ease into light activities about
7-10 after the surgery, usually returning to work within this period.
